静止画における運動知覚の背景輝度とそれに対する順応効果の検討

Some static images that have particular luminance configurations cause illusory motion perception in peripheral vision (Fraser & Wilcox, 1979; Kitaoka & Ashida, 2003). In our former research, we investigated the effect of the background luminance on the temporal properties of this illusion using the two kinds of stimuli differing in their luminance configurations. The results show that the overall luminance of the background critically determined the properties of this illusion. Here we investigated if the effect of the overall luminance of the background was caused by adapting process to a sudden change of the background luminance or by the luminance itself. The result shows that the luminance itself affects the temporal properties of the illusory motion more strongly. It is possible that these results support the adaptation hypothesis (Backus & Oruc, 2005) for illusory motion perceived in static images.%特定の輝度配列を持つ静止画は周辺視において運動知覚を引き起こす（Fraser & Wilcox，1979；Kitaoka & Ashida，2003）。これまでの研究で、二種類の異なる輝度配列を持つ刺激を用いて、この錯視の時間特性に対する背景輝度の効果を検討した。その結果、錯視の時間特性は、広域の背景輝度が大きく影響されることがわかった。そこで本研究では、この結果が突然の変化した背景の輝度に対する順応過程によって得られたのか、それとも輝度自体の効果であるのかを調査した。その結果、輝度自体がこの運動錯視の時間特性に大きく影響していることがわかった。得られた結果は、輝度またはコントラストに対する順応自体が直接的にこの運動錯視を引き起こす（Backus & Oruc，2005）という仮説を支持する可能性がある。
