Library and Information Science Profession in India Vision for 2010 : Some Rambling Thoughts

It is an honour and privilege to have been invited to deliver the Presidential address to this conference on Library & Information Science Profession in India: Vision for 2010 which is being organised by IASLIC as part of the IASLIC Golden Jubilee celebrations at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. To be the President on what promises to be a stimulating conference is indeed a challenge and to attempt to tackle the topic before us is an even greater challenge. The objective of this address is to highlight the developments that have taken place and are taking place which have or likely to have an impact on the profession and its functioning and also the strategies to be adopted.
