Book Usage in a Research Library : A Case Study

摘要

We know that printed books will continue to be important vehicles for scholarly communication for a long time to come - certainly for the foreseeable future. In this paper we try to: find out that whether the books, which libraries purchase are actually used or not. This helps to identify strength and weakness in the book collection from present pattern of use. We adopt a methodology to analyse collection use and draw a conclusion for performance measurement in a library in this regard. In compliance with such interest the performance indicators are categorized according to their characteristics and are related with library effectiveness. The possibility of quality evaluation of library: services is also suggested as a part of conclusion.
