Koha in Action : A Case Study of Implementing Koha in Assam University, Silchar

Library automation is a critical area of professional activities from where future benefits will emerge. In a big multilingual country like India, scale to implementation of library automation is a game changing factor in achieving the motto "automation for all libraries". This objective cannot be achieved by depending on commercial software and external expertise. Usage and implementation of Open source Library Management Software has proved to be a boon for the librarians who are willing to automate their libraries but facing financial constraints in this endeavor. Koha has gained popularity during the recent years and has been implemented in all sorts of libraries-academic, special and public libraries. This paper gives a systematic representation of experiences in implementing Koha in AUS including methodological details of data migration from SOUL 2.0 to Koha using various open source conversion tools.
