Estonia names company for fish flow evaluation at 82 dams

Consulting firm Eesti Veeprojekt has been awarded a contract worth €498,538 (US$634,943) to inventory fish flows at 82 dams in Estonia. The tender, issued in September 2011 by Estonia's environmental information center, Keskkonnateabe Keskus, sought technical evaluation of 11 dams on rivers where salmon are present and 71 dams on rivers where salmon are not present. The goal is to control the flow of water to improve fish migration, according to the contract.
