After years of development, the 2011 Chevy Volt EV is shipping. There has been a flurry of last minute announcements and some controversy concerning classification, but the time has arrived when the success of the vehicle is up to the consumer. That said here are some final specs and performance figures.rnChevrolet calls the Volt, "The world's first mass-produced, plug-in electric vehicle with a range-extending onboard engine... The revolutionary Voltec propulsion system deliversrnbetween 25 and 50 miles of electric driving (depending on terrain, driving techniques and temperature) with a long-life, 16-kW lithium-ion battery and 111-kW (149-hp) electric drive unit; and up to 310 miles of extended range with an onboard 1.4L engine."
