For each month that a worker delays retirement past full retirement age (age 65 for those born prior to January 2,1938 and up to age 67 for those with later birth dates), the benefit he or she will eventually receive is increased. The increase is based on a credit the worker receives for each month of delayed retirement, and how much credit is allowed depends on his or her birth date.
