Management at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Harrisburg, PA, discriminated against a Nigerian-born civil engineer by denying him several promotions, and then retaliated against him after he complained.rnUche Ikwut-Ukwa said co-workers and managers repeatedly directed racial taunts and slurs at him. He was the only black employee and the only foreign-born employee in the department. Ikwut-Ukwa was also denied tuition reimbursement and leave for employment-related education.rnIkwut-Ukwa filed suit for discrimination and retaliation and a judge awarded him $75,000.
