AL SADR

April 1995 saw the official launching of the powerful cutter suction dredger 'Al Sadr' at the shipyard premises of IHC Holland in Sliedrecht, the Netherlands. The naming ceremony was carried out by Mrs Christine van Til, spouse of NMDC Senior Marine Superintendent, Mr Casik van Til. The 'Al Sadr' is the largest stationary cutter suction dredger ever built by the Sliedrecht based IHC shipyard. The giant stationary cutter suction dredger was ordered by the National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC), Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 1998 and is the 10th order IHC Holland received from NMDC. As a matter of fact, NMDC's fleet consists for 100 per cent of IHC equipment and is composed of six cutterhead dredgers and two floating booster stations. The 'Al Sadr' is the seventh cutter suction dredger in NMDC's fleet.
