摘要

Local regulatory policies and practices are discouraging the production of workforce housing in New Hampshire, undermining the state's economy, according to a report by the New Hampshire Workforce Housing Council, a statewide affordable housing advocacy group. The report, based in part on a survey of employers, defines workforce housing as housing for workers earning no more than 120 percent of median household income, which in 2000 was $49,224. Overall, a tight supply of workforce housing is expected to cost New Hampshire up to 2,800 jobs annually, $121 million in reduced personal income, $253 million in gross state product, and $33 million in less state and local tax revenues, according to the study.
