HUD has allocated the $5.2 billion in community development block grant funds provided for Gulf hurricane relief in the emergency supplemental appropriations act signed into law in June (H.R. 4939, Pub.L. 109-234). The allocations were published in the October 30 Federal Register. As proposed by President Bush, Louisiana will receive the lion's share of the money, $4.2 billion. The remainder will go to Alabama, $21.2 million; Florida, $100.1 million; Mississippi, $423.0 million; and Texas, $428.7 million.
