House Approves 2007 Funding with Increases for Section 8, Public Housing, Homeless Assistance

The House has passed a continuing resolution (H.J.Res. 20) for the remainder of fiscal 2007 that funds most government programs at fiscal 2006 levels, but provides increases for Section 8, the public housing operating fund, and homeless assistance grants. The resolution was approved January 31 on a 286-140 vote. In addition to funding the government, the resolution would also extend the Section 8 mark-to-market program for five years, through fiscal 2011.
