VA Rules Encourage Servicers to Provide Alternatives to Foreclosures

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has issued final regulations phasing in revised servicing procedures for VA-guaranteed home loans that require electronic reporting and encourage servicers to provide alternatives to foreclosures on loans in default. The regulations were published in the February 1 Federal Register, and most provisions will be phased in over 11 months along with electronic reporting. However, some changes will be effective immediately for all servicers.
