A Section 8 participant owed her landlord the full rent for periods of occupancy when her unit failed the housing authority's inspection, ruled the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Second Circuit. Anderson, No. 45,929-CA, 2011 WL 228456 (La.App. 2 dr.), January 26, 2011) Plaintiff Vanessa McMillian, who had a Section 8 voucher from the Monroe Housing Authority (MHA), leased a house owned by defendant Barbara Anderson on January 15, 2009. The house failed the MHA's initial inspection. The MHA paid $380 of McMillian's $500 rent, but wouldn't pay for the seven days before the house passed inspection. In November 2009, the property again failed inspection.
