Geosynthetics such as geotextiles, geogrids, geonets and geocomposites, are products which separate, filter, drain, reinforce or protect the soil, all functions essential in foundation engineering. Thus, these products protect embankments from collapse, coasts and river banks from erosion, and roads from excessive settlement. There are many good examples of the development and use of geosynthetics around the world from a variety of companies involved in this industry. For example, the Polyfelt Group has extended its production capacity for soil reinforcement geogrids by opening a new plant in Bezons, France. The new plant produces a new generation of polyfelt.Rock geogrids known as polyfelt.Rock GX. The Linz headquarters in Austria houses management, production, research aznd development, and quality control. In the 1990s, additional production locations in Paris (France) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) were opened, and a joint venture in Australia, with a partner from South Africa, was established.
