S&T TO COMPILE A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF SECURITY CLEARED BIO EXPERTS

The Department of Homeland Security's Science & Technology Directorate will shortly begin evaluating individuals that could potentially be listed as subject matter experts for the Bio-Knowledge Center Expert Database. "The Bio-Knowledge Center Database will collect SME information in order to understand who can provide scientific expertise for peer review of scientific programs, and who can provide expertise in the event of a perceived biothreat," the May 22 notice states. "In addition, the directory will make it easier to identify scientific specialty areas for which there is a shortage of SMEs with appropriate security clearances."
