AMTRAK CHOOSES SMITHS DETECTION TO SUPPLY SECURITY TECHNOLOGY

As part of an effort to bolster security on trains, Amtrak has decided to purchase several explosive detection units from Smiths Detection. Amtrak will use Smiths' SABRE 4000 advanced detection systems to non-intrusively screen passengers, trains and train stations for explosives. "The SABRE 4000s versatility, light weight and accuracy will enable Amtrak officials to screen passengers both rapidly and non-intrusively," Cherif Rizkalla, president of Smiths Detection's Americas division, said in a Feb. 20 statement.
