Clinicopathological Study Of Serrated Adenomas And Adenocarcinomas Derived From Serrated Adenomas

To investigate their biological malignancy, serrated adenomas were compared with hyper- plastic polyps in tumor size, macroscopic classification, proliferating zone, and rate of staining of p53. Serrated adenomas were significantly larger than hyperplastic polyps. Macroscopic types Ip or Isp were found mostly in serrated adenomas. In hyperplastic polyps proliferating zones were observed in only the lower portions of glands, but in serrated adenomas, proliferat- ing zones were observed in both the upper and lower portions of glands.
