Anyone who has travelled the N15 tourist trail in South Donegal will know that once it enters Bundoran and Ballyshannon, traffic grinds to a halt as drivers try to negotiate the many junctions and avoid the traffic created by local shoppers and visiting tourists. To ease congestion, reduce traffic pollution and hand the towns back to the locals, Ireland's National Roads Authority (NRA) in conjunction with Donegal County Council approved the construction of a N15 bypass, to run east of the two towns.
