Trio left frustrated by bypass delay in Northants

Birse, Carillion and Jackson have been left frustrated after proposals for a much-delayed bypass at Isham in Northamptonshire were put on hold for at least four years. The trio were among contractors that returned bids to Northamptonshire County Council for the project, which last month the government decided would not be considered for funding until 2015 at the earliest. County councillor Jim Harker said: "Obviously we are very disappointed that the Isham Bypass scheme cannot be progressed to the next stage yet, but we do recognise the difficult financial position everyone is facing at the moment and the tough choices that have to be made to deal with the massive public debt.
