The device for conditioning the inner ear of a subject comprises a number of sound producing devices, such as a tape recorder, coupled through a preamplifier (12) to a number of signal treatment stages (13a) in cascade. Each stage has an amplifier (15a) with variable gain, a variable filter (16a), a gate (17a) and amplifier (18a). The amplifier output also connects through a threshold regulating device (14a) to the gate and the input of the next cascaded stage. The stage outputs are all connected to left and right delay circuits (20,21) each of which has an undelayed output (20a,21a) connected to a skull vibrator (8,9) and a delayed output (20b,21b) connected to earphones (10,11) and loudspeakers (6,7). The delays provided by the delay circuits are variable.
