摘要

I could probably draw you the entire New York City subway system more easily than I could grammatically diagram a sentence I've written, and that includes this one. When it comes to writing, I'm like a rock musician who can play without knowing how to read music. It's not something of which I'm particularly proud; it just happens to be the way it is. So, at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show(CES) in Las Vegas, when a distinguished-looking grey-haired gentleman-the very embodiment of his profession-came up and introduced himself as an English professor, and told me he really enjoyed my writing, it's an understatement to say I was jazzed. Naturally, a good copy editor stands waiting under the safety net at all times should I fall from my high-wire act of grammatical ignorance, but I like to think that I turn in clean copy.
