Categorically, this brave new audio world of ours is portable-based, whether we like it or not. And I've yielded to it, too, driven by the need to cope with a plethora of long flights. I gather that iPod sales have hit something incredible like 35 million, which is nothing short of unprecedented. Well, however much I despise Apple and everything associated with it, even I must admit that the iPod and most of its variants are prime, nearly ineffable examples of sheer marketing genius.
