Mainstream news media -radio, newspapers, TV -invariably get it wrong when it comes to audio matters. A recent TV item heralded, of all things, a revival in interest in the music cassette [see p111]; it seemed proof positive that someone was desperate to fill a 90-second gap. To make something 'edgy' out of something inherently 'retro', it was suggested that the generation born after the birth of CD, for whom cassettes were never even an option, had re-discovered the second-cheesiest, nastiest format ever.
