I enjoyed your June 2009 Group Test entitled 'Glorious Valves', particularly the comments on how 'high-res' - SACD and DVD-A - is pretty much a waste with valve amplifiers. It is true. Yet for some of us, there is the craving that must be fed. I was running a high quality solid-state amplifier to drive my Spendor SP100s. But I would wake up in the middle of the night with the cold sweats thinking, 'I gotta have tubes.'rnIt is like being on a no-carb diet and dreaming about spaghetti all the time.
