This being the 30th anniversary of the Compact Disc, I am delighted that our occasional vintage reviews of first-generation players continue with this fabulous machine from Technics. The design and production engineering looks more like a 'suck it and see' venture than a fully-fledged commitment to the genre - note its use of an 800nm laser (780nm is the standard) and a 'Technics Super Decoding Algorithm' instead of CIRC (cross-interleaved Reed-Solomon code).
