Despite its name, the original Pro-Ject Debut was not the company's first turntable, and current versions are no longer the entry-level line in the Pro-Ject catalogue. But the low-cost Debut series must have contributed more than any other models to the brand's huge success.rnLaunched in 1999, the original Debut sold for £109, including an Ortofon OM5E cartridge. It was founded on a straightforward board chassis, which carried a conventional synchronous motor with a two-diameter pulley for manual speed change, and a belt driving a ribbed plastic subplatter.
