Neither a milestone nor a dud, this 1981 release is a part of the 'post-traumatic Taylor' career, recorded as he was easing into national treasure status. The only clue that this is 30 years older than his recent stuff is the full head of hair. It's typical Taylor, consummately easy-going, yet with occasional flashes of energy, and it boasts a couple of nice collaborations. Then again, JD Souther and Jimmy Buffett are hardly alien to the singer-songwriter context, but it's nice to see that Taylor embraces those he certainly must have inspired. The former co-wrote the delightful 'Her Town Too', which delivered a hit.
