A true virtuoso, Jordan broke through in 1985 with his touch technique, later extending the idea by playing piano with his right hand and guitar with his left. He does it all spectacularly here, backed by his usual rhythm team of Charnett Moffett and Kenwood Dennard, while also duetting with guitarists as diverse as Charlie Hunter, Mike Stern, Bucky Pizzarelli and Russell Malone. As for horns, Nicholas Payton and Kenny Garrett provide an exhilarating opener and there's a soprano sax feature for Ronnie Laws. Jordan is the pianist in a Bartok-based 'Romantic Intermezzo' with violinist Regina Carter; and finally, with Malone, he adds a tribute to his mentor, the late Milton Babbit.
