It's odd that this should crop up in the same month as Chris Rea's latest offering, because Amor is doing exactly what Rea ought to be doing - pumping up the blues and exploring innovative new directions, with the added benefit of a gloriously tight-but-loose band that plays with fire in its collective belly. The guitar riffs that deliver the power to cuts like 'Sweetheart' or 'You Know It's Only Love' are rooted in the blues but infused with a questing spirit and subtle touches that suggest Amor knows as much about pop, funk and soul as he does about blues.
