This brand new compilation grabs no fewer than 17 tracks from two of the late Willy DeVille's hard-to-find 1990s sets, Victory Mixture and Big Easy Fantasy. Because of their position in his career, this is New Orleans funk fronted by one of the most distinctive voices the rock/soul melange ever produced. Any DeVille album is a musical treat, and I can't recall one that was poorly recorded, but this was chosen because it includes both studio and live material of equal sonic merit. DeVille was a chameleon, but whatever the genre, he oozed soulful vocals, and always attracted the best musicians. Enjoy it for the rhythm.
