Even though I'm old enough, it's hard to remember what it was like when you had to go to real effort and expense to find and listen to a particular piece of music. When you'd read books enthusing about certain recordings and then spend fruitless hours trying to track them down. When you couldn't find almost anyone's biography by clicking on Wikipedia. But nothing has brought it all back to me more clearly than All This And Slowly Deteriorating Fast, the last memoir of the late Jim Godbolt, who died at the age of 90 in January 2013.
