Though not short of history, Abbey Road Studios is a little short of storage space, and equipment that isn't in constant use gets parked in a corridor. Back in the 1980s, you could have seen almost a corridor-full of the analogue tape machines that had been supplanted by digital tape mastering. Today, some of those same big early digital multitrack machines are down and out in the corridor, made obsolete by modern hard disk systems and only kept on for the occasional restoration project.
