Said by the company to be the best speaker it has ever made, and marking its 50th anniversary, the flagship 800 D3 is finally available, in a choice of gloss black, satin white or rosenut finishes, at £22,500 a pair. Anyone expecting the new speaker to be a huge version of the 802 D3 or 803 D3 [HFN Dec '15 and Mar '16] may be surprised. In practice, the 800 D3 may be slightly tubbier than the model below it, and use larger bass drivers, but it's no taller and, thanks to the solid alloy plinth, no heavier than the 802 D3.
