Sony PS3 as music player?

In July 2007 Barry Fox referred to the fact that Sony engineers had released codes to upgrade the Sony PlayStation 3 to a high-end music player. Where can I get the codes? If they are still to be found online, how do I load these codes into the PS3? I would be grateful for any comments.
