SPENDOR REVISITED DO LAB RESULTS AND LISTENING CONTRADICT?

I was looking forward to the review of the new Spendor A4 loudspeakers in your November issue having been a very satisfied user of the company's A5 model for around five years. My speakers are driven by a Nairn SuperNait II integrated amplifier. Unfortunately I found the published review confusing and contradictory. In laying out his findings David Price said that 'you really need a sturdy solid-state design with a ready 100W per side here', whereas Keith Howard's Lab Report stated that 'the A4 is a notably easy loudspeaker to drive'.
