On January the 3rd 1970 The Beatles made their last studio recording, 'I Me Mine', written by George Harrison, at Abbey Road studios. By this time John Lennon had left, to all intents and purposes, and the song alludes to the sourness and ego problems that had riven the group. It had originally been rehearsed the year before. Much has been made of The Beatles having a gang mentality, but the downside is that if you are the 'youngest member' of a gang, you will always be thought of in that way. When Harrison joined The Beatles in March 1958, having just turned 15, John Lennon thought him too young to be in the group. And in terms of songwriting, Harrison was always viewed as the junior partner when compared to Lennon and Paul McCartney.
