For a number of years the energy saving benefits of insta ling independent water heaters to supply domestic hot water services in commercial applications have been accepted by bui ding services consultants and system designers, However, the relative efficiency of water heaters has not been acknowledged in the current government-backed measures to reduce carbon emissions, Part L of the Building Regulations specifies only that water heaters should have controls to ensure they fire as needed and these appliances do not feature at all in the Enhanced Capital A owance Scheme or in the Energy Technology List.
