Greener and Cleaner: Mostra Convegno 2004

This year saw the 34th Mostra Convegno exhibition held at the Milan fairgrounds. The show hosts over 1800 exhibitors representing 2,800 companies from around the world displaying their latest heating, plumbing and bathroom products to an audience estimated to be around 145,000 over the five days of the show. The Italian manufacturer Riello is probably best known in the UK. for its burners but in Italy, this company is also a big name in boilers, air conditioning and other associated products. Riello does not take a stand -this year it entertained its customers in the whole of Hall 23. Featured and of interest to the UK was the new RX series of three gas burners with outputs from 4-5 up to 110kW. This burner range uses premix combustion technology to improve efficiency on one hand and reduce Nox emissions on the other, making gains at both ends of the equation. A variable speed 'brushless' fan motor in conjunction with variable air and gas mixing valves is claimed to provide a high level of modulation. The combustion head is a non-welded knitted metallic fibre that provides a high turn down ratio of up to 8:1, making the RX suitable for use with the latest generation of condensing boilers.
