EPA Issues Status Reports on Brownfield Projects

EPA defines a brownfield as "... real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant." Different types of brownfields have been identified, including "portfields" (i.e., lands around port facilities), "railfields" (i.e., railroad-related properties), and mine-scarred lands. In three recent documents, EPA reports on the status of projects that address each of these types of brownfields.
