Lead-Based Paint Rule Revised, and New Changes Announced and Proposed

Lead-based paint was banned for residential use in the United States in 1978. However, it is estimated that more than 38 million homes in the United States still contain some lead-based paint. Lead released during renovation, repair, or painting of these homes can create a serious health hazard, especially to young children. In fact, lead poisoning is the number one environmental threat to the health of children in the nation.
