Oleophilic Boom (nearshore): Melt blown polypropylene (MBP) has a natural affinity for oil, while repelling water, this property is known as "oleophilic." MBP may be formed into almost any shape and is found in pads, strips, spaghetti and other convenient forms. When enclosed in a scrim this material can be used to create small, intercepting and absorbent booms for nearshore work.
