The UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has published a Consultative Document, CD 165, proposing an amendment to the Notification of New Substances Regulations 1993 (NONS), SI 1993 No 3050. NONS 2001 will give effect to European Commission Directive 2000/21/EC. The regulations include a list of groups of substances which are not subject to the notification requirement under the Dangerous Substances Directive as they are covered elsewhere by specific regulation. The Directive included an amendment to this list, adding biocidal products which are to be subject to the new Biocidal Products Regulations 2000, due to be agreed shortly.
