Rail it is one thing to achieve harmonisation with other modal regulations on the carriage of dangerous goods but the European rail experts have also to consider a number of other provisions concerning the international movement of rolling stock and agreements on transport restrictions. The RID Committee of Experts held its 40th session in Sinaia, Romania, this past November 17 to 21. Its agenda consisted of agreeing the changes to the regulations governing the carriage of dangerous goods by rail that will come into effect on January 1, 2005. The meeting was attended by delegates from 17 countries, along with representatives from the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), the International Rail Committee (CIT), the International Union of Railways (UIC), the International Union of Private Wagons (UIP) and the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC).
