Germany-headquartered Mauser Group has announced that it has entered the US fibre drum market with the acquisition of the assets and business of American Fiber Drum (AFD), a Chicago-based manufacturer of new fibre units with capacities ranging from five gallons (19 litres) to 75 gallons (284 litres), in a move it describes as "continuing the strategy of growth and globalisation that the company has followed for several years". Founded in May 2007, AFD has subsequently built up what Mauser terms "a significant presence in the Midwestern US", something that makes it "an excellent fit" with the German firm's existing operations in the region.
