The 15th session of the joint meeting of experts on the regulations annexed to the European Agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by inland waterway (ADN Safety Committee) took place in Geneva this past August 24 to 28. The meeting was chaired by Helmut Rein (Germany) with Bernd Birklhueber (Austria) as vice-chairman, and was attended by representatives from eight countries and the European Commission (EC), Danube Commission (DC), Central Commission for , Navigation on the Rhine (CCNR) and four non-governmental organisations.rnAfter adopting the Secretariat's proposed agenda, the meeting reviewed the comments made on its earlier deliberations at the Inland Transport Committee's (ITC) 71st session. These had already been surveyed by the Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (WP15) (HCB September 2009, page 8). Points were raised regarding gender-based discrimination and global warming; the ADN Safety Committee pointed out that there are no social protection measures applicable to pregnant women and to maternity in the Agreement, and as the transport of dangerous goods does not have any especial influence on global worming, there is no reason to include combative measures.
