Maybe it's because it's a 'soft' issue, all about people father than regulations, but it has taken some time for the dangerous goods business to wake up to the fact that we are losing experienced people and finding it hard to replace them. As we report this month (see page 19), some action is now being taken to try and resolve the problem, by defining more explicitly what it is that dangerous goods professionals do and what value their work brings to the companies for which they work.
