Univar has signed a definitive agreement to acquire California-headquartered Basic Chemical Solutions (BCS), with the deal expected to be finalised sometime during the first quarter of next year subject to customary closing conditions. While the size of the deal remains unknown, an article published by the Financial Times at the end of July that first mooted BCS as up for sale suggested the company would likely command a price tag of around $800m.
