Into the blue

The 2011-2012 edition of the International Civil Aviation Organisation's (ICAO) Technical Instructions (TIs) and the 52nd edition of the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR 52) both take effect on January 1, 2011. Both bodies have published documents showing the major changes to the regulations, which incorporate changes drawn from the 16th revised edition of the UN model regulations as well as other air-specific amendments based on discussions at the ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP) and its working groups. In addition, IATA's Dangerous Goods Board (DGB) has adopted some changes to operational procedures, and DGR 52 includes, as usual, new and revised state and operator variations.
