German chemical giant BASF has developed a new antistatic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) granulate that it will sell under the Elastostat~® brand name. Available as a masterbatch - a ready-to-use granular mix - the new material is part of the BASF Polyurethanes Elastollan~® product range that has been on the market for more than 30 years. "Most polymers have insulating properties and are therefore susceptible to electrostatic charging," says Anja Oltmanns, BASF Polyurethanes' head of sales and technical service compounds, antistatics, nonwovens.
